100% Pallet Wood Woodworking Workbenches

Get the plans for the workbench & vise that I added later! http://bit.ly/JackmanWorkbenchPlans ➤ Please share and subscribe? http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ These workbenches were made 100% from pallet wood. The tops are 36" x 40" x 2" thick, all laminated from pallet slats. The main frame is fabricated from 3.5" x 2.5" pallet timbers and 1.5" thick pallet slats, all from a super heavy duty pallet. The casters are locking 4" casters. Everything is fastened from the underside, or the inside of the frame, leaving zero visible fasteners. The top includes poplar, pine, white oak, red oak, maple, and cherry! I haven't yet decided on a finish for the workbench, but right now I think I'm going to put a really thin coat of epoxy to seal and protect the top. Many more modifications will be made to this in the future, including a bench vice, storage underneath, and I'm sure many other things. I have a feeling these are just going to be a canvas. Fart. Pallet Wood Pipe Clamp Workbench Vise

Pallet wood bench vise, it's what you've come to expect... Get the plans for the workbench & vise! http://bit.ly/JackmanWorkbenchPlans Details! ▼ ► Full build article - https://www.jackmanworks.com/pallet-wood-pipe-clamp-workbench-vise/ ► My exclusive solution for hearing protection in the shop, ISOtunes PRO - http://bit.ly/2uIsq7M ► Check out my "Kits" for lists of all of the gear I use along with specific recommendations - https://kit.com/JackmanWorks I built a pair of matching workbenches in my shop a couple of years ago entirely out of pallet wood and they have been a staple of my shop ever sense. Now, ever sense I built them I had the intention of adding a moxon style vise to one of them to help hold work pieces and today is finally that day. To match the rest of the workbench, I of coarse decided to use one of my patented pallet wood laminations. For the clamping mechanism I used pipe clamps, these are very strong, cheap, and easy to source, so they make for a great solution. The vise has about 2" of travel by just from the screw part of the pipe clamps alone which will do the majority of jobs that I need done. For anything larger, I just reach under the bench and release each pipe clamp and pull it out to where I need it. Also worth noting is the fact that on the outer edge of the bench I installed that pipe clamp in further so that I would be able to clamp work at the edge of the bench. Bombproof Shop Storage - Modular Miter Saw Station Base

10:27
It's been a year in the making, the final piece to the puzzle for the miter saw station is complete!!! ► Excruciatingly detailed build plans are available here: http://bit.ly/mitersawstation Details! ▼ This miter saw station base is designed to be used as the base to my Modular Miter Saw Station (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaQhHcfFvj6_iMqGX36haXLTXWRAtSuT8) or as a stand-alone workbench and storage unit. Each unit is 3' wide and can be added or subtracted depending on how much room you want to each side of your saw, or how much storage you need. This could also be easily divided up into smaller units. The drawers are extra deep for tons of storage, supported by 28" full extension drawer slides. The vertical drawers can be adjusted even easier, just by changing the width of the drawer fronts. The set of vertical drawers that live below where my miter saw is located are the focal point of the cabinet. These were made to be a go-to location for my most used electric and pneumatic hand tools. They are easy to grab because they are grouped by category and each of the vertical drawers can be rearranged to fit different or changing stocks of tools. Modern Waterfall Table (The Obtuse Tables)

►I do this for a living, help me live? http://www.patreon.com/jackmanworks ►Please share and subscribe? https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ This pair of "waterfall" style tables I'm calling The Obtuse Tables were made from a repurposed maple butcher block countertop with a leg frame made from reclaimed mahogany. The main surface of the table wraps down at 95 degrees, so each of the legs kicks over at 5 degrees. The original idea behind this design was that due to the angle of the legs, the table would look like it wants to tip over, but it won't due to the weight distribution. However, the mahogany legs are reversible and I actually flipped them around because it look better to me that way. Also, because of the darker color they're almost hidden when viewed at the right angle. I used a mix of regular splines and dovetail splines all made from mahogany to achieve the look. \\\\\ CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK \\\\\ ■ Full build article: https://www.jackmanworks.com/modern-waterfall-table-the-obtuse-tables/ ■ Finish used on the tables: http://amzn.to/2i4ltW7 \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.pinterest.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Son Mieux - Even / Feels / For Those http://www.sonmieux.com/ https://www.facebook.com/sonmieux/ https://soundcloud.com/son-mieux https://www.youtube.com/SonMieux https://twitter.com/sonmieux

They tell me this bench is going to be more well traveled then me. So this was constructed from a total of about 8 pallets (Red Oak, White Oak, Pine, Poplar, Aspen, Mahogany, Cherry, and Maple) along with some threaded rod thru bolts which were abandoned in a dumpster when the fire protection was being renovated at a local retail store. The pallet slats were left rough on the underside, front, and back to add a really cool texture and also some history to the piece. The threaded rod is mostly aesthetic, but it'll also add some structure to the piece. So simple but it looks so cool! The table saw insert was made from 3/8" acrylic I found in the dumpster where probably half of my projects start out. I'm just saving this as a zero clearance insert and will use the stock one for angled cuts. The upper units could easily be scaled and be used as base units as well if you don't have a workbench to build it off of. Each unit is 3' wide and can be added or subtracted depending on how much room you want to the left and right of your miter saw.The drawers are made to be fully interchangeable in 3 sizes (small, medium, large) as well as a work station drawer. With the set-up I chose, I can cut 7' to the left of the saw and 4 feet to the right of the saw using the stop block & ruler system. The saw unit fits my 12" sliding compound miter saw. Lacking countertop space? I think everyone is, so here's a cool solution to that. I made these for my friends who live in a fairly small house that lacks countertop space and this is meant to help with that. These will sit on top of a half wall that runs around the perimeter of a set of stairs going down to the basement. There is a notch around the 3 sides that sit on the wall so it basically straddles the wall to hold it in place and there are also pairs of magnets between the sections to keep them from sliding apart. Pallet Wood Shot Glasses (100 of them!)

First video in the new shop in D.C.!!! ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ These shot glasses are 100% reclaimed and 100% pallet wood! They were made for Carolina Shoe to use as giveaway items (keep an eye on their socials to see how you can get one). It's so awesome to know that my work will be traveling out to so many peoples hands. It took roughly 9 pallets to get the lumber for this build. A lot of it was turned into sawdust after all, but that's better than this good wood ending up in the landfill! I got some awesome lumber out of these pallets nonetheless (cherry, red oak, pine, poplar, white oak, maple, ash, elm, hickory). Here's some of the intricacies of my design: The wider t-track was notched out to allow for the t-bolts from the fence to slide into the blue t-track. I swapped out the hardware that comes with the fence for some cam clamps. The whole cabinet is made from ½” aromatic cedar Purebond plywood that I had left over from my dresser build. The drawer bottoms are all made from 1/4” plywood and those function as drawer bottoms, drawer slides, drawer pulls, and even drawer stops because of the orange PVC piece mounted to the front that I plan on using to label the drawers. The drawers hold wrenches, feather boards, push blocks, and things like that. But most of the drawers are router bit holders, appropriately enough. Each of the holes in those drawers has a combined ¼” and ½” hole so each hole can hold either sized shank router bit. Rockler also makes plastic inserts that perform the same function if you don’t have a lazy millennial in your shop to drill all those holes for you. The door over where the router is located is made from an acrylic sheet with embedded wire mesh. This is a scrap piece that I got my hands on from Jimmy Diresta. It’s mounted using some spring loaded hinges that were picked from the trash, so those hold the door shut. I reused the legs that came on the saw, but drilled and tapped some holes into the side of the cabinets and bolted them on. It’s actually a much more solid solution than what came on the saw, but I’m getting off topic. The dust collection is combined between the table saw and router table and hooks into my small Dust Right dust collector. This is part of what has enabled me to keep my shop entirely free from duct-work. The smaller hose for the fence is held in place with a metal clip on the side of the cabinet and installed in the fence when needed. \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ Website - http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ GIFs - https://giphy.com/channel/jackmanworks ■ Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Ample Tunes - Rigatoni Revolver https://ampletunes.com/ ■ Guustavv - Willow Trees ■ Smartface - I'd Rather Sleep ■ Rannar Sillard - We Are Legends ■ Martin Hall - In And Out Of Love ■ Gunnar Johnsen - Scared Yet https://www.epidemicsound.com/

Reclaimed (pallet wood/mahogany) Segmented Bowl

Materials for this project were all reclaimed (except of course epoxy/finish). The lighter wood is oak and poplar pallet wood and the darker wood is mahogany that came from deck balusters I rescued from the trash. Even the yellow plastic used for Mickey and Minnie Mouse was saved from the trash. I went a little too thin on the segments and had the bowl break off on me. This is my first time doing a real segmented piece like this and I realized when I was gluing up the rings that this might happen. The piece of pine belonged to my great-grandfather who's daughter (my grandmother) still lives in the house that he built back in the 50s. Joints between the pieces are all tongue and groove. Gorilla glue is used at the main wood joints and caulking is used at the panels and glass to keep them in place but also allow them to move slightly with the temperature. The bug canals in the pine were filled with epoxy and sanded smooth, then the whole door was finished with poly. mmmk? Space Saving Shop-Vac Dust Collector Cart

A Jay Bates, Jeremy Schmidt, and Jackman love child?! Organization in the new shop.... DC in D.C.! ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ I recently moved into a new shop and lost some square footage over my old one, so floor space is at a premium. At the old shop, my dust separator was quite content sitting next to my shop-vac with the hose reel mounted to the wall, but they require a little pampering to get them to fit the new space. This dust collection cart allows me to stack everything vertically, only taking up a small amount of floor space, while still having the same functionality as before. It has also allowed me to avoid the hassle of installing a dedicated dust collection system to a lot of my tools. The hose reel is my favorite part, with the 20' hose on it, it reaches almost everywhere in my shop and stores away easily and neatly so avoid fighting with the clutter of loose hoses. I have many flaws and this might be one... Anyway, ever since moving to DC I've been wanting to do some sort of a project incorporating the streets of the city. The layout of the streets and even the shape of the city have a really interesting history behind them which makes for a very interesting map to look at. I got my hands on some old wall studs when a row house was being renovated downtown that dated back to about 1880 so I knew I had to use that material for this project. The pieces ended up being southern yellow pine with some really cool looking grain. This project was a huge learning experience for me, as much as I love to flaunt my skills as the J-Carve, I really wanted to push the limits of the CNC to make something that I couldn't reasonably do by hand. The project tested the limits of the machine, but also my knowledge base since I knew very little about more complicated CNC projects and had never used Illustrator before. But that's when you get the best results, when you jump right in! I decided to go with clear water to make a cool subtle 3d effect on the otherwise very flat map, and then the weathering accelorator created a great slight color change to the surface to set it off just enough. This organization project was from right after I moved into my DC shop. I didn't have the miter saw and table saw set up, so everything was done with just a circular saw and drill. It was such a simple project that I've been sitting on the footage since then unsure of whether it deserved to be it's own video, but I feel like the clamp rack portion of the projects makes it worth it at least and I came up with a vision for the video, so here we are! All that it took was (3) 12' long 2x4's and a sheet of 1/2" BCX plywood. My shop is only 300sf with essentially no room for storage, so something like this was essential to have a place to put my lesser used materials. Plus the clamp rack was just perfect since it took up zero additional space. I get a good idea every once in a while! \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ Website - http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ GIFs - http://giphy.com/channel/jackmanworks ■ Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Yomoti - Before Chill ■ Martin Carlberg - Today Is A Good Day To Live http://www.epidemicsound.com

How To | Build the Ultimate Adirondack Chair

Surprise!! Time travel :) So THIS is officially the last build in the RI shop. ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ The Jackman Works adirondack chair is back! This time something a little different with a walk through video. I love how many people are using my plans to build these for themselves and I get a lot of questions so I figured this build needed a more detailed video. This was my last batch in the shop in Rhode Island, a set of 8 chairs that ended up at a college in Pennsylvania. These are made from clear grain western red cedar, fastened together with stainless steel screws and carriage bolts all from my favorite place Albany County Fasteners. It took me about 7 days in total to complete these including dry time for the finish. I felt the casting was missing the typical Diresta flare, therefore I transformed him into an ice pick...it's what he would have wanted. Box is made from a reclaimed oak door frame. Aluminum dowels hold on the front of the box with nothing but friction. The block is made from pallet wood with a screw used as a pivot point for the center piece. Ice pick spike is a piece salvaged from a printer that was rescued from the dumpster. Clear material used in the front is plexiglass with custom vinyl lettering. The latest #jackmansized creation is this nutcracker that is actually taller than me. He's built almost entirely out of wood and almost entirely out of reclaimed materials. The body, arms, and legs are all different segmented turnings built up from some reclaimed oak and fir beams/studs along with some maple butcher block off cuts. This totals up to being almost 100 segmented rings and 2,000 pieces of wood in total to construct this creation. Add some threaded rods to hold him together, a little bit of accent paint, some Carolina Boots on his feet, and some hair on his head/chin and we have a nutcracker that is capable of cracking coconuts! I'm honestly not sure what Carolina is going to do with this thing. It's incredibly robust though, so I suggested that they use him for testing out the safety toe in their boots, but apparently there are "nutcracker labor laws" I was unaware of. ► Full build article - http://bit.ly/2LNzDuV Notable Materials & Tools used on this build: Materials - Reclaimed oak beams & fir studs: http://bit.ly/2s49U8o - Maple butcher block off-cuts - Wood glue: http://amzn.to/2oLI9Sf - Ledger lock screws: https://amzn.to/2LI8Q2W - 5 minute epoxy: http://amzn.to/2op9Oss - TotalGold paint: https://amzn.to/2LHmbZd - Carolina Logger boots - Tung oil finish: http://amzn.to/2i4ltW7 - Furry blanket - Nuts: https://amzn.to/2LIK5U5 Tools - Hearing protection: http://bit.ly/2Vp6PgH - Thickness planer: http://amzn.to/2j4ISuI - Fence clamps: http://amzn.to/2m7vtkr - Miter gauge angle gauge: http://bit.ly/2F0Zq1k - Hose clamps: http://amzn.to/2moNY62 - Drill & driver: http://amzn.to/2wy5wSZ - Silicone glue mat: http://amzn.to/2tvLbIk - Drum sander: https://amzn.to/2RuVo84 - Metal rulers: http://bit.ly/2TmTvHM - Glue roller applicator: http://amzn.to/2FuIPjs - Pipe clamps: https://amzn.to/2R1Dav9 - Wood lathe: http://amzn.to/2yrn8Nz - Lathe chuck: http://amzn.to/2lrYCtF - Carbide lathe tools: http://bit.ly/2rZFap1 - Oscillating tool: https://amzn.to/2R1R4O3 - Angle grinder: http://amzn.to/2BxiIai - TurboPlane grinding disk: https://amzn.to/2LEqrsF \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ Website - http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ GIFs - https://giphy.com/channel/jackmanworks ■ Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop Shoutout to my top Patreon supporters! - Dave Soetanto - Steven Ingles - Old-School DIY (@gfc62) - Jeffery Nichols - Cory Helmer - Shawn Rose - Riley Conway at Conworks Design - Diane Beene - Scott Brooks - Terre Tulsiak - Greg Gilhooly - Chad from ManCrafting \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Tchaikovsky - Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairies https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music ■ Björn Skogsberg - What Would Grohl Do ■ Dust Follows - Condor ■ Smartface - Grounded ■ Martin Hall - Now We Do It Again ■ Park Lane - Aim High ■ Hara Noda - Tender ■ Traditional - Russian Dances https://www.epidemicsound.com

Plywood is always a pain in the butt to haul though, so I decided to make the entire dresser with only 2'x4' handy panels that I could get shipped to my house (Purebond plywood). This also gave me the ability to play with some really cool species of plywood that I can't get locally in small quantities. I took full advantage of this by making the different species into a cool patchwork pattern. This pattern is actually continuous across all of the drawer faces and even wraps around the sides of the dresser. The frame of the dresser is made from ebonized oak which was done by charring the surface with a MAP gas torch and then sealing it in with tung oil. \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ Join my mailing list to be the first to get updates: http://bit.ly/JackmanNewsletter ■ Website - http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ GIFs - https://giphy.com/channel/jackmanworks ■ Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Grant Newman - Sunrise On The New World ■ Twelwe - Fajv ■ Martin Hall - Love For The Ocean ■ Siny - Orange ■ Martin Hall - Post Traumatic Love Disorder http://www.epidemicsound.com

My original idea was just to pull the aggregate out of concrete and use that mixed with water for some pen blanks. You can see I wasn't very optimistic because I poured enough for 6 pens and none of them came through alive. Luckily I had poured some other blanks in anticipation of that which were a mix of cement and epoxy. The blanks were first shaped on the disk sander and then I mounted them in the drill press to finish shaping. Put that on a t-shirt, or don't (probably don't). As soon as I saw Jimmy create the blade I knew this had to happen, I was able to get one from him and then decided to set the totally unnecessary requirement that it be made entirely out of wood because (everyone say it with me now) "I hate myself", good work everyone... The body is made from maple butcher block. The internal mechanism is made from 1/4" plywood, a piece of white oak for the spring because of it's flexibility, and it's handle is a piece cut from padauk. Lastly, the screw is turned on a lathe from a piece of chechen. For more details on the build, check out the build article linked above, or don't, I don't really mind. My grandmother wanted one too so I made a matching one for her to use in the distant future. \\\\\ CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK \\\\\ ■ Full build article: https://www.jackmanworks.com/segmented-cherry-urns/ ■ Miter Set: http://miterset.myshopify.com/?aff=30 \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.pinterest.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ (Intro) Shelburne Falls Military Band ■ Adam Yoo - I Won't Be Here / On My Way Home https://adamyoomusic.bandcamp.com/ https://soundcloud.com/adamyoo_music

End Grain Plywood Drone Box

➤ I do this for a living, help me live? http://www.patreon.com/jackmanworks ➤ Please share and subscribe? http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ The main frame of the box is just a scrap piece of 3/4" plywood that was approximately 2'x4'. The top and bottom of the box is just 1/4" luan plywood. Internal is carved from FastCap's Kaizen Foam. Hardware was salvaged off pieces in the trash. Handle was salvaged from an old fire hose my landlord was saving, I assume just in case he was ever motivated to put out a fire (good luck with that now). Finished with linseed oil and paste wax (I'll probably put something tougher on there one of these days). Cherry Carpenter's Toolbox Urn

08:32
►I do this for a living, help me live? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksPatreon ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ This box is an urn for my grandfather who died this past month at the age of 82. He was a cabinet maker by trade and did the full range of carpentry and woodworking. The only safety warnings that will ever resonate with me came from him, I picture his 9 fingers every time I go to use a saw. This was built from rustic cherry, which was just a really funky grain cherry that had been hanging around for a while. The name plate is acrylic that I frosted with my hand sander and the whole box was finished with tung oil. Rockler makes some amazing products, I was a customer before they were a sponsor. Miter Saw Station Q&A (part 4 of 3)

►Get the plans: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop/jackman-modular-miter-saw-station-plan/ ►I do this for a living, help me live? http://www.patreon.com/jackmanworks ►Please share and subscribe? https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ This miter saw station is designed to fit on an existing workbench. Making a Giant Rustic Wall Clock (with inlay)

06:56
►I do this for a living, help me live? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksPatreon ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ I made a clock from pallets, would you expect any less? The clock is made from reclaimed pallet wood with a 3/4" plywood backer panel. In the center is a walnut veneer inlay in the shape of the state of Rhode Island because this was a featured piece in the Rhode Island Home Show. The letters were custom cut from a recycled PVC sheet. It's a big clock too, 24" in diameter. The MiterSet is what I use to set the angle on my miter gauge: http://miterset.myshopify.com?aff=30 \\\\\ CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK \\\\\ ■ Full build article: Coming soon ■ Rockler Insty-Drive 18-Piece Self-Centering, Countersink and Driver Bit Set: http://bit.ly/pc2qWfHtm ■ Rockler Dust Right® Shop Vacuum Hose Reel: http://bit.ly/pc2rrxCvP ■ Dust Right® Heavy-Duty Shop Vacuum Hoses: http://www.rockler.com/dust-right-heavy-duty-shop-vacuum-hose-kits ■ Dust Right® 4'' Dia.
